Marina Mausi — Swallow of the Silent Flame

Against a field of blazing red, she holds her gaze forward — composed, sharp, luminous. Her hair erupts like a corona of white fire; her neck and skull fragment into a mosaic of cool blues, greens, and violets, as if her inner world is made of stained glass — ancient, sacred, unbreakable. Part of the series “Matter of Light. Female Forms.”, this work sits at the intersection of the primal and the ornamental. The figure does not burn — she is the flame: silent, precise, consuming only what she chooses. The swallow in folklore is a symbol of return, of carrying something vital across great distances. Here, she carries light itself.

Luminous figurative portraits of archetypal women, shaped by neo-pop aesthetics and a former life in aerospace engineering.
